Curing issues with firmware PLS_60_XX_XX.X for the HP Latex 700 and 800 Printer Series

This article informs of a curing issue in the PLS_60_XX_XX.X firmware versions. Under certain conditions, some print jobs may not be fully cured, potentially affecting output quality.

This issue occurs when:

  • The user cancels a job and the curing process while the printer is actively curing the job. In such cases, the next job may not cure the last few centimeters correctly.
  • Additionally, the issue can occur if the user cancels a job while it is curing, while the printer is still warming up, and has not yet started printing.

These cancellations can be triggered by:

  • Pressing “Cancel Job” and selecting the option “Cancel job and curing”.
  • Opening any of the safety-related covers, such as the printhead cover, front window, or lifting the curing module, which automatically cancels both the job and curing.

Workaround to avoid the issue:

  • If a job needs to be canceled, select only “Cancel printing”, and do not cancel curing. This ensures the curing process is completed properly, avoiding quality issues in the next job.
  • If the user must cancel both printing and curing, it is mandatory to restart the printer before sending the next job. This ensures that the curing system resets correctly and the next job will be fully cured.

NOTE: This issue has been identified and is currently under investigation. Once a solution is available, it will be communicated through firmware release notes.
