HP 365 print quality blurry drop pattern

#1 bjorn.b5176 2 years ago

While printing a solid Orange today we noticed 1 single horizontal pass that looks blurry (poor drop lay down) after it was printing normally. Then the printer ran normally after. Wanted to be ask if it’s likely a maint. wipe mid print causing this or a data/encoder issue? Failing print head possibly ?

Hello, I'm a technician for LexJet, this is a common issue with vinyl based materials called plasticizer migration. It is not the printer at fault, the issue lies with the material. To prevent it, make sure to keep the material in a controlled environment, use it within 6 months of receiving it. If this is a new roll (within a month's time), call your material provider for instructions on getting reimbursed or a new roll sent. Plasticizer migration is a film that is created from the softening agents trying to escape the vinyl, this can happen on ab vinyl, banner or vinyl based wallcoverings. To test to see if I am correct, take rubbing alcohol and wipe down an area of the material prior to printing. You will see the area will print fine where wiped and the other half where not wiped will have this effect.

Also do not store media laying on its side as the impression will speed up this effect. Store media vertically or suspended without touching anything if possible.
