THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OFFICIALY SOLVED
After a call into tech support, I understand that some as-yet-unknown change in ink composition has resulted in a head issue with the light magenta/light cyan and magenta/yellow heads. A firmware fix changes the settings for the printhead (and possibly other settings) that seems to fix this. They sent a tech out right away to fix it. We'll see how it works. Thanks, @ProColorGraphix for the heads up!

I too have this exact problem on my L360! Did the firmware update and/or printhead replacement make any difference? Im having constant issues with horizontal banding. I'll be printing fine for 5m or so and then horizontal banding will occur. From trial and error ive been replacing printheads one by one, doing a printhead alignment and then doing a test print to check for quality/banding issues. Ive come to the relisation that im having issues with the Light Cyan/Light Magenta printheads and ive changed three in the space of a week and all have done under 100ml. I too, would like to know if i there is any way of knowing that a printhead has failed without wasting alot of media and time? Im also having issues with print size. You would certainly hope that changing printheads would not change the substrate advance? My other theory is that a faulty printhead could be doing this?

It seems to have fixed it. Definitely call HP Tech Support immediately ... I'm not sure why they aren't proactively warning L360 owners about this!

Any chance you are able to tell me the version of firmware you are running on your L360? Ive just tried updating via the front display and it says theres no new updates available. Currently, im running version: NEXUS_00_04_60.1 Published: 3/11/15. Seems as if there must be a newer version than this?

I'm running NEXUS_00_06_02.7, but you're correct. This version has not been publicly released yet. Only HP techs have it.

I'm having an issue with printheads. I will be printing along happily -- long runs for vehicle graphics, etc., and we'll notice a significant color shift, especially with lighter colors (grays, tans, etc.). I can run alignments, cleanings, etc., with little change. Replacing the head does the trick, but it's hard to figure out which head to replace because the nozzle test still looks decent. So, I have two questions: 1. Why are the printheads so unreliable that I can barely make it through the warranty (sometimes not even that) without them failing? 2. How can I know, other than by ruining a print, that it's time to replace a printhead? What should I look for in the diagnostic tests? Solved! Go to Solution.
