Optimizer wavy streaks

HP Latex 300 Series

#1 Jay25 5 years ago

Whenever we print dark blues or blacks, and occasionally with other dark colors, we get these whitish, ghost wavy streaks across the prints. Were pretty sure it has something to do with the optimizer, but after changing the op head and ink cartridge we still are having the same results. Please help.

Hi Jay 25, I think what you are seeing is called plasticization. It is an effect on the media that is caused by the media. Usually happens on media that is older or not stored properly. ( I think primarily on Banner material) A sure test would be to feed some of the roll ahead, clean/wipe one half, rewind and send a print to see the difference from one side to the other. The new L560/L570 I believe has addressed this issue with a removable idler roller made of foam to clean the media while it is being loaded.

Good Luck, Roy K

Hello @Jay25 can you please update a picture, so, we can confirm is a plasticizer issue? If it is a plasticizer issue the advice given by @Roy_Kuzmich is correct. The problem is not on the inks neither on the optimizer is on the substrate.
