FAQ's

On HP Latex Print and Cut Plus Solutions, when pausing the unit, knife pressure and velocity can be changed. Please note that once the cutter is back online, a small buffer of movements may still use the original values before the new values are applied. Changing other parameters may result in aborting the job.

Yes, the HP Latex Plus cutter can be left unattended on the HP Latex Print and Cut Plus Solutions. Please note that when processing long or multiple jobs, the material in front of the HP Latex Plus cutter may accumulate - the media basket is only suitable for a few meters.

On the HP Latex Print and Cut Plus Solutions, powering on the unit takes less than 10 seconds. The load procedure (after manually placing the material in the unit) takes about 40 seconds depending on the size of the media and velocity setting. Once the machine is loaded, it is ready to process jobs immediately.

Many signs and cutting programs, including HP FlexiPrint and Cut Plus, can include speed and pressure settings in the plot data. That will override the current settings in the cutter. You can either disable the speed and pressure settings in your software or simply be sure that the speed and pressure setting being sent by your software is the same as the settings you wish to use for that specific job.

This depends on the media being cut with the HP Latex Plus cutter. The standard 36° blade with standard cut vinyl should cut (kiss-cut only, not flex-cut) a minimum of 5000 meters at high quality.

On the HP Latex Plus cutter, if a blade needs 25% more pressure when compared to a new blade, quality issues may arise in small details. Corner cut quality is also a good indication that the blade needs replacing. With a worn corner cut, the quality can be improved by adjusting the knife offset but it will not be at the highest level. If the offset needs to be adjusted y more than 0.03mm, the blade should be replaced.

Yes. On the HP Latex Plus cutter, during the lifetime of a blade, the pressure will need to be continually adjusted. Brand new blades will soon need adjustment, while further, infrequent adjustments will be required for the lifetime of the blade. Please note that pressure adjustment will be required when changing media types. When using flex-cut, pressure adjustment will be more frequent.

This depends on the selected workflow. The pressure of the blade of the HP Latex Plus cutter can be adjusted through both FlexiPRINT HP Latex-Basic Plus and the cutter. It is, however, recommended that the adjustment is made using the cutter settings.

The cutting speed of the HP Latex 54 Plus cutter and HP Latex 64 Plus cutter is up to 1131 mm/s diagonal.

The maximum cutting speed on HP Latex 54 basic Plus cutter is 113 cm/sec (44 in/sec) diagonal for substrates below 29-inch wide [up to 84 cm/sec (33 in/sec) diagonal for substrates above 29-inch wide]. The maximum acceleration is 3 G diagonal for substrates below 29-inch wide [up to 0.9 G diagonal for substrates above 29- inch wide].

The cutting force of the HP Latex Basic Plus 54 in Cutter is 0-400 g in 5-gram increments, and the one for HP Latex Plus 64in Cutter is 0-600 g in 5-gram increments.

The cutting depth on HP Latex Plus cutters depends on the knife installed.

The standard blade can cut up to 0.5mm. However, to obtain good kiss-cutting quality a maximum of 0.25mm is recommended. Blades up to 0.6 mm are available from your HP reseller.

HP can only guarantee kiss cutting applications with HP Latex Plus cutters. The material should have a liner and only the top layer (and glue) is cut. The most common of these are vinyl, flex, flock, and sandblast masking material. Single-layer material, such as paper, requires flex-cut. Flexi cut performance is not guaranteed and this perforation method can result in frayed edges.

A media sensor behind the right sleeve is used to detect the end of the loaded media on the HP Latex Plus cutters.

On the HP Latex Plus cutter, it is recommended that the core holders (flanges) are used and these can support a weight of up to 25 kg. A weight of up to 50kg can be supported directly on the roll. A maximum roll-diameter of 17cm is applicable.

For the HP Latex 54 Plus Cutter, the width of the media can range from 18 to 141 cm (7.1 to 55.5 inches). This increases to 163.5cm (64.4 inches) for the HP Latex 64 Plus Cutter.

The pinch rollers of the HP Latex 54 Basic Plus Cutter can only be set in a limited number of fixed positions (6 instead of 9). This means only 9 media widths can be loaded and cut (see picture and target media widths below):

The required HP software is bundled, as standard, with the HP Latex Plus cutters.
