Recycling and disposal instructions for the HP carton-based ink cartridges
The attached “How to participate in HP Planet Partners Program1” flyer will help you to ensure the proper recycling of your Large Format carton-based ink cartridge.
Several years ago, HP introduced carton-based ink cartridges, which represent a significant step towards better practices by using 75% less plastic2 and enabling 60% of CO₂e reduction3. However, our commitment extends beyond this achievement. In our pursuit of a better circular economy, HP offers a recycling solution through our take-back program: HP Planet Partners. This initiative is available in over 60 countries and serves as our repurpose and recycling program for HP end-of-life equipment and printing supplies.
To recycle our HP carton-based ink cartridge, please follow these steps:
- Recycle the cardboard as you normally would, then place the remaining ink bag in your HP Planet Partners bin to be submitted to HP Planet Partners.
1 Program availability varies. For details, see hp.com/hprecycle
2 HP cardboard-based cartridges reduce the plastic by 75%, by total plastic weight, compared to plastic-based cartridges.
3 The carbon footprint calculation has considered an average of the carbon footprint reduction for different sizes of plastic-based cartridges compared to cardboard-based cartridges. All estimates of impact results are uncertain, resulting largely from data limitations and data quality. To mitigate this uncertainty, HP has developed HP-specific tools that use a combination of HP processes and product data, as well as high-quality lifecycle assessment data. HP strives to provide the most accurate environmental impact results, but uncertainty will never be completely minimized, and results should be considered accordingly.
