Substrate advance problem

Hi all,

I have substrate advance media problem on backlit PET media.

When I print with OMAS on, the image was blurred on horizontal steps.

The image will be sharp when I turn off auto OMAS and set figures manually on print adjusment menu.

Other media don't have any problem at all with auto OMAS on.

There is no problem when I put same media on my Latex 360, it printed nicely.

Is the OMAS faulty? Or media problem?

Hi Renz,

I hope all is well.

Please, could you clarify which printer is the affected? (1500 or 3000?)

And also, If you can provide media details such as vendor or name in order to understand if it's a certified/profiled (by HP) media.

Hi,

Sorry for my late reply, me and HP tehnician still working out this problem until now. And still got no problem solution.

The printer is Latex 3500, and media is Kintex. We use this media a lot in our Latex 360 and it's OK.

Although Kintex was not on HP media locator, but media setting and color was similar with Natura.

Until I got this from HP technician :

Is it means OMAS can not be used in all backlit media?

This is very strange, because we use OMAS for all backlit media on our 360.

Do you have any solution for this matter?

Hi Renz,

Thanks for the info!

The recommendation here is desactivate the OMAS and use the manual calibration.

In order to do that, please, following the instructions below:

Manual Substrate Advance Compensation:

1.Load the substrate from which you want to get the Manual Advance Calibration

2.Clone substrate (if customer has loaded it as a generic one)

3.Check the status of the printhead

4.Check the Printhead Alignment

5.Print the Advance Calibration test from IPS and locate the correct compensation value

Hi Ayelen,

Is it OMAS deactivation affected printed image length? i.e. original image length 2m, the printed one is shrink or extend.

We are afraid of this matter because many our jobs are repeated images, and its sadly enough if we print 10 copies, the correct length only 5 copies.

Another question, is it possible with OMAS enable, the image might have advance problem? For example, blurred letters.

Tomorrow I will send you some photos explaining this.

Hi Renz,

So, the backlit media that you are using is Kintex (Kintex is not a Certified media) You can check all the Certified media in the Following link: www.hp.com/go/mediasolutionslocator

Regarding your questions:

Is it means OMAS can not be used in all backlit media? -> Seems that this media family will be marked as not navigable by Latex 3X00.

Another question, is it possible with OMAS enable, the image might have advance problem? For example, blurred letters? -> the problem is when OMAS desactivate in the middle of the job.

Please, let me share with you how to use manual substrate advance calibration with non navigable medias, with a correct calibration the IQ should be OK.

Manual Substrate Advance Compensation:

3.Check the status of the printhead
4.Check the Printhead Alignment
5.Print the Advance Calibration test from IPS and locate the correct compensation value

Hi again Renz,

IQ means "Image Quality".

As we said, without OMAS but with a correct manual calibration, the image quality should be good.
