HP Latex 54 cutter off center

So, I have used my new cutter a handful of times with no issues. All of a sudden it's now cutting almost exactly 1/8 of an inch to the right. How do I remedy this so the cutter is cutting where I WANT IT TO?

If the cutting offset is consistent, the next step would be to run the OPOS Calibration. This is run on the cutter and does not involve the printer. Take a sheet/ roll of black vinyl (ideally this is vinyl for cutting) with a paper release liner, load it into the cutter, and run the OPOS Calibration from the front panel. The cutter will cut a square about 1 inch in size. After cutting, carefully weed the square so that the white paper back shows. Next, complete the calibration from the front panel. The cutter will identify the edges of the square, and update the calibration data based on this.

#2 Calibrate OPOS Sensor (Using black adhesive vinyl on a roll). Check that OPOS has not become loose and moving when engaging the media. Check that pinch wheels and main rollers are not dirty or covered in anything that may hinder it's movement. Check that cutting strip is not damaged especially after a lot of Perforation cutting. Check file and corresponding layout of barcode. Use alternate files to test. All these can be remedied by end-user except of r a wobbly/moving OPOS which will need to be replaced by a Technician.

I am having the same problem with the cutter cutting 1/16" to the right of the letters I want to cut. I did the OPOS calibration and re cut the media and it cut it again on the exact same cut as the first time.

Hello @judy.peace5073 Make sure Call Media test has been done. From cutter: Main menu - System setup - Calibration - Call Media. Perform the output compensation from the RIP. If the issue persists please call HP Support.

#1 Has anyone a solution to this problem. mine just started doing it and spending 3 days on the phone with no one knowing whats going on even after referencing this thread.

Is there a way to manually adjust the offset? we are having the same problem and we cant get a technician in as they are stuck in another state.

Hello, My main recommendation here is to try and download the latest version of flexi SAI, update the RIP and test again. Another solution from the printer's point of view is to use the option finishing for cutting before printing the samples to be cut. One other thing that could be affecting it is the media itself, sometimes the media is good to print on it but the ratio of deformation due to heat makes it not so good for cutting purposes. If none of these recommendations work, I suggest contacting HP support.

#2 Paul, Im having the same issue but ours is cutting below and to the left of the printed area. I have spoke to the software guys and they are telling me it has to be the cutter which I do not believe because it was running fine before their update! I ran the OPOS Cal, Media Cal and Length Cal but nothing has changed. If I rerun the cut job it will cut right on the exact same lines it before, what can I do to fix this? After the update, I did notice it saying the Bonjour for HP has stopped working... Could this be an issue?

#1 Was having a similar issue. HP 64 Cutter was cutting off - wasn't a software issue or media issue for me. I solved it by calibrating the OPUS with black vinyl. See the manual for instructions. Cutting was perfect after that.

Don't forget the cutter has firmware. You may find updating that and then calibrating helps.
